Democratic Governance

Governance is one of the major challenges of Pakistan as its poor standards has shattered whole structures of society and state. Fragile governance systems of state institutions have shattered national development indexes in a way that it may take decades to get improve if serious efforts will be invested. Realizing the governance scenarios and its crucial role in development, Sudhaar has strengthened its capacities and portfolio to tackle governance issues, and implemented 17 projects mainly by The Asia Foundation and TDEA.

The organization directly involved elected representatives, government officials, political parties, religious leaders and the election administration at national, provincial and district levels.  The primary focus of developing new, and strengthening existing relationships between rights-holders and duty-bearers, to enable citizens’ voices to be channeled into administrative, regulatory and legislative reforms, enabling improved electoral, legislative and local governance. These approaches made a modest contribution in more sustainable civil society voice and accountability in Pakistan.

Finally we come down to civic awareness since only when a society is able to discern and choose a good representative who is willing to fight for their needs is when a society is truly able to gain full advantage of the system. Interventions such as helping people understand the democratic process and helping them out with the registration process have been performed by Sudhaar, always keeping an eye towards the best interest for the people.
