Democratic Governance

Pakistan’s poor governance standards have severely impacted its societal and state structures, hindering national development. Recognizing the critical role of governance in development, Sudhaar has bolstered its capacity to address governance issues. The organization has implemented 20 projects with national and international partners, mobilizing around 85,000 people to engage in local governance and registering 188,000 voters, thereby contributing to improved governance and civic participation.

The organization engaged elected representatives, government officials, political parties, religious leaders, and election administrations at various levels. By fostering relationships between rights-holders and duty-bearers, it enabled citizens to influence administrative, regulatory, and legislative reforms, ultimately improving electoral, legislative, and local governance. This approach contributed to a more sustainable civil society voice and enhanced accountability in Pakistan.

Civic awareness is crucial for a society to truly benefit from the system. Sudhaar has worked to enhance civic awareness by helping people understand the democratic process and assisting them with voter registration. By empowering citizens with knowledge and skills, the organization enables them to make informed choices and select representatives who will advocate for their needs, ultimately leading to a more effective and responsive system.
