Climate Change
Since 2012, Sudhaar has been working on environmental and climate action initiatives through various donor-funded projects, targeting diverse groups such as school children, workers, and local citizens. In addition to these efforts, Sudhaar has directly implemented two climate change adaptation projects: the Active Citizen Program – Digital Model, supported by the British Council, and the Move for the Planet project, in partnership with adidas x Common Goal. These projects aim to empower youth to address climate change locally, promote healthier environments, and reduce plastic waste through active engagement. The cumulative achievements are as follows;
- Conducted sessions with school children on safe environment practices.
- Developed and disseminated IEC materials on environment protection and safe drinking water.
- Held sessions with workers in the football industry.
- Organized tree plantation drives in schools and industries.
- Hosted a drawing and painting competition among children on safe environment themes.
- Led awareness walks on safe environment practices.
- Distributed face masks.
- Recruited and trained 248 young volunteers in Kasur, Narowal, and Pakpattan districts, who implemented 39 Social Action Projects on climate change and COVID-19.
- Signed MoU with the District Education Authority for project implementation.
- Successfully completed and handed over a sports facility built using recycled plastic including the construction of a football pitch, spectator stands for 200 people and changing rooms
- Sensitized 40 stakeholders and built the capacity of 15 youth leaders on climate change and environmental sustainability.
- Conducted sessions with teachers, children, and youth leaders, including:
- 52 sessions with 50 children
- 03 quarterly sessions with 18 teachers
- Launched awareness campaigns through door-to-door visits, reaching 2781 residents.
- Provided sports kits to 50 children.
- Establishment of one collection center at the suitable place within the school vicinity.
- Awareness raising on safe environment of 1000 residents from the side of children and youth to support waste collectors visiting on daily basis to collect the plastic waste and dump at the hired area in the community
- Formation and strengthening of Children Environment Society
- The waste collection and shifting of plastic waste to the recycling plant under the supervision of 2 youth leaders.
These achievements showcase a wide range of activities focused on environmental sustainability, climate change, and community engagement.
