Brief overview of Advocacy & Awareness

Sudhaar has implemented more than 17 projects in multiple districts of Punjab.

Community mobilization and awareness is an alternative to traditional approaches for development, which prioritizes people at the grass root level and prepares them for participation in all types of initiatives. This mechanism is appropriate to ensure the inclusion of the community members especially volunteer involvement in the system. Methodologies of the social mobilization such as Participatory Rural Approach, Rapid Rural Approach and Change Agent Programs are practices in order to enhance the participation of community leaders and volunteers in the project.

The advocacy and awareness is the key area in which Sudhaar has implemented more than 17 projects in multiple districts of Punjab which built and strengthened to the capacity of Sudhaar to engage citizens in public oversights, local governances, election monitoring, and mobilizing populations for responsible citizenships.  A society is able to discern and choose a good representative who is willing to fight for their needs is when a society is truly able to gain full advantage of the system. Interventions such as helping people understand the democratic process and helping them out with the registration process have been performed by Sudhaar, always keeping an eye towards the best interest of the people.

Sudhaar plans to integrate its work in target areas to address multiple needs of the communities and show holistic impact. Improving the quality of life of the target communities is among the top priorities of Sudhaar which is attainable by promoting education, literacy and vocational education/ training. The communities will avail these services at their priority and become self-reliant.

Sudhaar will focus on advocacy for policy formulation and reforms for some particular discipline. Sudhaar will use its experience, experiments, lessons learned, and success stories to advocate for change and reforms.

Local people will be organized in formal groups/ committees by democratically elected process and people will form their systems as well. The group members will undergo extensive training to develop their functions, TORs, by-laws, and procedures to work for the development of other people.  These committees will continue to be capacitated by imparting knowledge and enhanced exposure to alike development organizations. The committee will take lead in holistic development of the village/ area, however, project-specific content and priorities will be made part of the TORs of the groups later when any of such projects is launched in that area/ locality. The groups will advocate for and voice for their rights & take over the projects upon phasing out.
